Gary Bigelow is a professor of Spanish language and literature at Western Michigan University. He is the father of two (including the editor of On a Whim), husband of one, and pet-owner of a feisty yet adorable miniature dachshund. Among his projects are translating contemporary plays from Spanish, biking, and increasing the world’s average endorphins per capita.

Lisa Bigelow believes in 3-day weekends and 6-hour workdays (for a start). Among her pursuits are writing, making art, practicing Frisbee, and finding ways to pay rent in the Bay Area. In spite of her underlying suspicion and resentment of computers, she is the web designer and editor of On a Whim. She encourages anyone and everyone to participate in this project.

David Crowell is a strange, inveterate liar, unfriendly by design. Favorite poets include Lyn Hejinian, Blindboy Fuller, Dizzy Dean. Can be found at home or work, depending on time. Recent studies include Paul Fussel, Renate Adler, Joe Frank.

Keith Irwin is a mastermind of cryptography, whimsical poetry, and intergalactic telepathy. He lives in North Carolina.

Matthew Sheby is a research scientist at a University of Southern California media lab and is the in-house rock auteur for Soundtrack.net. If movie screenings were chicken wontons, he would have heartburn from consuming so many. Matt is too suave to grovel for autographs when he meets stars; and the chicks flock. Be nice to him and maybe he’ll invite you to his Hollywood mansion to use his jacuzzi.
